Introduced to the American public on Oprah, Dr. Oz, like Dr. Phil before him, has gone on to host a successful show of his own, dispensing bon mots, fun medical advice and rocking his scrubs. However a new study in the British Medical Journal has reported that over half the the advice Dr. Oz gives on his show might as well come from Ted Cruz and Granny Clampett as it is not based on any intelligent research or facts and may actually be dangerous to follow.

Researchers randomly selected 40 episodes of The Dr. Oz Show and evaluated the recommendations that its star, Mehmet Oz, gives in each one. The majority of his suggestions involve dietary hints, restaurant tips and dating advice, but he also promotes alternative therapies and other things of questionable veracity such as tarot cards, runes and magic 8 balls. They found that only 46% of his claims were corroborated by science, while 36% were found to have no supporting evidence—and 15% were directly contradicted by scientific evidence. In other words, more than half of what Oz propagates is drivel.

When asked to comment on her protege, Oprah simply blamed Obamacare.
